Sahara i213 iTablet Review

Recently I have had a chance to use the Sahara i213 iTablet. This sleek, fast slate tablet pc clearly differentiates itself from the competition. It's white case resembles the case on an Apple iBook so I included pictures comparing it to my Apple iBook G4.
Overall the 1.3 GHz Pentium M CPU seems even faster on this Tablet. Maybe it's because it is able to switch screen rotations instantly. The screen works well and it allows you to turn the brightness up high enough to work with it indoors and out. In full sun it is not very readable though. The unit ships with 256 MB of ram which is adequate to use Office with it, however I suggest that you upgrade it to 512Mb to enjoy the best performance. Also, the 40 GB hard disk will meet the needs of the average user. The CompactFlash card slot is a nice idea however it would have been ideal to have a PC Card slot instead. However since there's built in 802.11g you won't need to use the slot to access a wireless network. So the only CompactFlash card I would suggest adding is a Bluetooth CompactFlash card to allow you to connect to Bluetooth peripherals like a mouse and keyboard. The 4 hour battery will meet most users needs for mobile use of their Sahara Tablet PC. Also, the (2) USB 2.0 ports and the 6 pin FireWire port make expansion on the i213 easy.
The black rubber bumper and stand are accessories were for this review. You can find the complete specification's for the Sahara i213 here. Also, the Sahara i213 is part of the Tablet PC 2004 Quick Comparison so you can compare it to other tablet pcs.

Here are a couple of pictures of the rubber bumper. I really liked how well the rubber bumper wrapped around the Sahara i213 to protect it while I use it. It allowed me to operate the Sahara i213 through the bumper easily.
The rubber bumpers are available in a rainbow of colors!
Here are pictures of the Simple Stand accessory. This stand is easy to carry and makes a great accessory for your Sahara i213 so you can easily see it when using it on a table.
Conclusion
The Shara i213 represents a good value for a Tablet PC. It's faster clock speed and overall good performance as well as clean "Mac styling" makes this a great choice for users that want a slate Tablet PC. Also, I highly recommend purchasing a rubber bumper to protect your Sahara i213 Tablet PC while you are using it.
